What is redirect backlinks? How do redirect backlinks work?

Redirect backlinks exploit a mechanic in Google that lets you move to another domain while still keeping your link juice from your old domain. 301 Redirects allow the new domain to benefit from the links pointing to the old domain, as well as traffic.

How a redirect backlink works is you buy a website that has a significant portfolio of relevant links and 301 redirect it to your current website, thus benefiting from the link juice.

Now, the problem here is that Google’s bot isn’t stupid. It can tell when you’re 301 redirecting a website that has nothing to do with your current site. It can also tell when you have a million 301 redirects and they all mysteriously point to one website.

I’d recommend another approach to this method of link building. Instead of just creating a 301 redirect, try and recreate the website of the original domain to the best of your ability, update and reword it for clarity, then drop a link to your main site in it. Slightly lower direct returns, but much safer.
